235 American Sign Language The ASL Club is open to all students who would like to learn about sign language, deafness, and Deaf culture. This club exposes students to the beautiful and expressive language of ASL. Students will participate in world languages department and cultural events. Students will have the opportunity to interpret songs, sign skits and play games incorporating a variety of vocabulary topics. The club will organize movie viewings and will provide games. 315 Anime Club This is a student run club for everyone interested in anime/manga. Activities are based on student suggestions and include watch parties, trivia games, friendly discussion/debates, and more! The Anime club meets twice per month, and new members are always welcome! 608 Art & Design Club

This is a student run club for those interested in art and/or fashion.  The club is open to art studens as well as those who are not taking art classes with the goal of enriching art, drawing and design skills.  Activities and projects are based on student suggestions.  Students interact socially while working independently and collaboratively under teacher supervision. Students meet Thursdays after school.

313 Astronomy & Astrology Club This club encompasses learning, fun, and building community. Biweekly meetings are held where we discuss astronomy and/or astrology, usually on an alternating basis, which allows for students to discover both the science of space and the spiritual practices surrounding the stars. 306 Black Culture Club The Black Culture Club meets to discuss issues relevant to Black students at North, as well as national and international events affecting Black people. Library Book Club Meets twice a month to discuss current fiction and non-fiction titles, chosen by the group. Students come together in an informal way for book discussions that will explore different experiences, points of view, and issues. Ms. Dickerson hdickerson@ccsd.edu
306 Chaos "Chaos" is the science journal of Clarkstown North. Students write articles on subjects of their choice in the areas of biology, chemistry, physics and earth science. In addition we attempt to include original student artwork with each article. Once articles have been submitted and edited by members of the staff, they begin work on the layout. 245 Chess Club The Chess Club meets every other Wednesday in room 420 from 2:00-3:00. Weather permitting, we will also play in the courtyard. We play matches against each other, share strategies and mentor each other in a supportive, relaxed environment. We are also open to playing other board/card games. 514 DECA Business Club DECA is a globally recognized business club that prepares emerging leaders in the world of marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges. 215 Elderly Allies The Elderly Allies Club creates connections with the elders of the community. We make letters, cards, and crafts for seniors in nursing homes. We have also partnered with adults in the Rockland County Village Community in an Intergenerational Project to promote the collaboration between people of all ages. Some meetings include virtual sessions with these communities to get to know each other and discuss global issues. 233 Epiphany (Literary Magazine) Epiphany is the school’s student-run literary magazine, publishing fiction, non-fiction poetry and related artwork. Available literary positions include staff members, assistant editors, and editors with responsibilities to review and select student submissions and to layout the text and pictures using InDesign. 315 Film Club This is a student run club for anyone interested in watching and discussing movies and films of all genres. Each meeting, students create a trivia game about the movie of the month, followed by a discussion/debate about themes, motifs, and ideas found in the film. 507 Flow (Forwarding. Lives. Of. Women.) The F.L.O.W. Club aims to destigmatize periods, raise awareness for period poverty, and help women who struggle as a result of homelessness and poverty. It is open to all students regardless of gender. We meet Thursdays about once a month to talk, share idea, and work on community initiatives. 211 French Club The French club gives students an opportunity to participate in cultural activities outside the classroom. 704 Freshman Class Class officers are elected each year. These officers are the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Each class operates as a unit to develop class spirit as well as school spirit. It is also the goal of each class to raise funds to support the activities of the class when they are seniors. 144 Gay-Straight Alliance + The Gay-Straight Alliance is a civil rights club that meets with the purpose of providing a forum for students to discuss ways to protect the rights and academic well-being of gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning students. Our activities have included the Day of Silence, Liberty triangle stickers in classrooms, assemblies, health class presentations and weekly meetings. We meet every Thursday after school.

167 Geek Culture Club The Geek Culture club is for everyone who loves reading, watching, discussing, and/or creating comic books, graphic novels, manga, anime, and DC/Marvel films AND for everyone who loves playing in-person group games. 412 GEM - Girls (and Guys) Exploring Math A faculty member and current students from St.Thomas Aquinas College lead a hands on exploration of mathematics topics beyond what is taught in the high school classroom. This club meets 3 times per year on Thursday afternoons in room 412 from 2-3:30 pm. 186 Helping Little Hands This is a club which dedicated its service to helping children in need. We participate in a variety of community events such as the Rockland County Turkey Trot through People to People, Walk For Babies through March of Dimes and local children’s charities. The club members also reach out and provide items to a local child in need. We hold numerous bake sales and other fundraising activities throughout the year. Meetings are held once a month. 166 IB Together Club The IB Together Club is a student run club for anyone who wants to be part of a service-minded community. Students don’t need to be a diploma candidate or  enrolled in IB classes to join. All you need is a passion for giving back to the community. Members volunteer at community events, take part in field trips, and read to students at local elementary schools. The club’s goal is to create a supportive, uplifting environment where students can connect with others, especially those navigating challenging coursework. The IB Together Club meets once a month after school.

512 Interact Club Students participate in community service projects such as walk-a-thons, food drives, and road-clean ups. 603 Irish Heritage Club The Irish Heritage Club holds monthly meetings to celebrate Irish culture and traditions including Irish step dancing, gaelic football, and traditional Irish musical instruments. 217 Italian Club The Italian Club encourages all students to participate in activities that promote Italian culture. Students will participate in World Languages department, school, and community cultural events, as well as fund raisers for various causes. 239 Japanese Club The Japanese Club welcomes anyone at NHS and SHS who is interested in Japanese culture and taiko drumming. Regular club meetings are once a month on Thursdays (meeting place will be alternated between NHS and SHS) and offer many activities such as cooking, calligraphy, origami, watching anime and Mitsuwa Japanese Mall in Edgewater, NJ in May. 709 Jazz Band Jazz Band introduces students to a uniquely American art form, focusing on jazz stylistic playing and improvisation. Any student who now plays or has previously played an instrument is welcome. It is suggested students be able to read music. Rehearsals take place in Room 709 on Wednesdays from 2:00-3:00pm. 703 Junior Class The Junior Class Officers are a group of four students who are elected by their peers for the position of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The officers are looking for responsible students who are willing to devote both time and energy on behalf of the Junior class. The goal of this club is to plan and run fundraising activities, organize the Junior Ball, boost school spirit, and increase the Junior class participation in school events. 146A/B Kindness Crew Club The Kindness Crew Club will give North High School students an opportunity to help other students and their families that are in need within the Clarkstown community. 709 Marching Band The Ram Marching Band is a rewarding experience that instills teamwork, student leadership, pride, and enthusiasm for both the band and the school community. Any student who now plays or has previously played a band instrument is welcome. No marching experience necessary. 419 Math League Math League participants meet once a month to tackle six challenging problems issued by the New York State Math League. Competitions are held from October to March, and newcomers are always invited. Dates are announced on the loud speaker and posted on the North’s math webpage. 705 Mind Management Club Mind Management Club students work together to build social-emotional health and learning skills. We share tools and strategies that strengthen positive mindsets, useful skills, healthy attitudes, and emotions that support success in school and beyond. Activities include creating and practicing time management strategies to reduce stress, setting and working toward realistic academic and personal goals, making music playlists to shape our moods, playing interactive games, exploring stress-relieving drawing activities, and more. 701 Mock Trial Team The Mock Trial Team participates in the New York State Mock Trial Competition. The competition consists of arguing a case against teams from other schools in an actual courtroom in front of a sitting state court judge. Students will serve as lawyers and witnesses. 707 Model Congress Model Congress members will engage in simulated congressional debate on topics of interest to students and relevance to current events. 239 Multilingual Club The Multilingual Club is a place for English language learners to socialize, organize common goals, and provide opportunities for growth and enrichment within and outside of the ENL community. 705 National History Day Students choose a historical topic related to the annual theme, and then conduct primary and secondary research using libraries, archives and museums, oral history interviews, and visit historic sites. Students then present their work in one of five ways: as a paper, an exhibit, a performance, a documentary, or a website. 170 Poetry and Prose Club The Poetry and Prose Club is dedicated to the craft of writing. We write together, share our poems and prose with each other, discuss how we write, and prepare for public readings. We provide prompts to inspire our writing and to get us motivated. 225 Ram’s Horn Calling all writers, photographers, and news junkies! The Ram’s Horn is North’s newspaper, and we are looking for highly motivated students to create online and print versions of our newspaper. We meet frequently to create content, discuss upcoming stories, and edit layout. 250 Science Olympiad The Science Olympiad team participates in a regional competition each year. 252 Science Research Club The Science Research Group conducts hands-on experiments and research projects aimed at developing students’ scientific problem solving skills. Student interests define the nature of the work. Emphasis is placed on all of the steps of the scientific method, including defining a problem and hypothesis, using laboratory equipment to gather and analyze data, and writing and publishing results. 705 Seasons of Giving

Seasons of Giving is dedicated to inclusion, acceptance, and unity while raising funds and volunteering for charitable organizations. Seasons of Giving & SHS's Assets Leadership Team work together with a shared mission of unifying their peers while making a positive impact on those in need. The clubs organize an annual district-wide sock drive and the Battle of the Arts.

District Office Student's Advisory Council SAC is an organization of students from North, South, and Birchwood. It meets monthly with the Superintendent to discuss District issues. 709 Tri-M Music Honor Society- Chapter 2929 The Tri-M Music Honor Society was founded in 1952 by Alexander Harley and his wife Frances. Tri-M is an international honor society with over 4100 chapters worldwide. Tri-M stands for “Modern Music Masters,” the society’s original name. Music is represented by the lyre, and the scroll denotes accomplishment and service. The five lines of the music staff indicate the five criteria upon which members are selected: scholarship, character, cooperation, leadership, and service. Mr. Andert jandert@ccsd.edu
417 UNICEF Club UNICEF is a United Nations agency helping children throughout the world by providing them with clean water, medicine, food, and emergency relief. 510 VAASA (Varsity Athletes Against Substance Abuse) Upon becoming a member of the Varsity Athletes Against Substance Abuse, selected Varsity student-athletes agree to set an example for their peers and act as role models for the younger students in the district. As part of their responsibilities, the V.A.A.S.A. student-athletes speak out against all substance abuse to the 5th grade classes within our school district.
